Newly hired stunt guitarist Mike Keneally kept an audio journal during most of Frank Zappa's 1988 "Broadway The Hard Way" tour that included set lists, backstage goings-on and many personal observations. Here are the transcripts of Mike's diaries, originally posted in chronological order on their 10-year anniversary dates.

APRIL 8 1988

(German voices are heard on the television.)

What you are hearing is the sound of "Kimba, the White Lion" dubbed into German. However, I'm in Paris right now watching it, and, uh, obviously I've gone a long time without recording anything on this tape and I'm very ashamed about that, and I don't really have time right now to do more because I still have to take a shower, and we're leaving for the rehearsal hall in 45 minutes. Today is April 8, I believe. Yes it is. It is definitely April 8. Friday, April 8, and we're in Paris. And when I get back from rehearsal tonight, I'll try to...I will. I promise I will get some of the, uh, highlights and details of the end of the US tour, and definitely fill in on what's happened the first few days of the European tour. Which is really what's happening right now. So. See ya. Take it easy. I'll talk to you tonight.
