Hurricane moves Crimson/Zappa Band concert

Hurricane moves Crimson/Zappa Band concert

Blame the weather! Our show this Tuesday has been relocated from the Pines Theater in Northampton to Symphony Hall in Springfield, MA. This post you see here, which I took from the Crimson page, says that it’s a hurricane that’s responsible, but now actually been downgraded to a severe storm. No matter, the show has been moved no matter what you want to call it. Basically the sky is doing weird things and we have to go inside.

Of course now that it’s inside, with even less open space for virus bugs to fly away to a non-harmful zone, there’s even more reason for you to wear your dang mask to the gig. It even says here that you have to wear one to hang out in there, unless you’re actively eating or drinking. I personally have gotten pretty good at eating with the mask on. If we end up eating together I’ll show you how. That’s not likely though because I am going to be one anti-social mofo on this tour. If anyone on this tour comes down with the Covard (as my mother-in-law likes to call Covid, charmingly), the tour is OVER. Just like lots of tours are right now.

I sort of can’t believe we’re doing this at all, but as long as we are, I’m going to have a good time playing. We just had a couple of days rehearsal in Albany and the band is sounding really freaking good. We had a great gig at the Greek Theatre in LA a couple of weeks ago, and I look forward to at least equalling it over the next few weeks.

Is that the proper spelling? “Equalling”? Looks really weird.

Anyway! Don’t go to Northampton on Tuesday if you intend to see the Zappa Band and King Crimson that day! IT WON’T DO YOU ANY GOOD!

Mike!

The Strandberg Song

This particular opportunity flounced in my direction last year…”say, Mike Keneally,” said Strandberg Guitars to me, “can you make us a video promoting our new pickups?” I’ve been playing Strandbergs for a couple of years and getting a huge kick out of them, so I was very pleased to do so, and additionally pleased that the song I made up to highlight the different pickup configurations turned out to be such a peculiar beast. I hope you enjoy this song as much as I enjoyed making a song that I hoped you would enjoy!

Mike Keneally & Beer For Dolphins return to The Baked Potato in July

I can hardly believe this is even true, after so many months of no gigs, but I’m gonna do a two-night stand at the Baked Potato in LA on July 16 and 17, with Beer For Dolphins. Two sets each night. Hours of music and memories for the discerning connoisseur. (Did I actually spell connoisseur right? Dang.)

BFD in this instance is the five-piece bakin’ @ the potato! model, with Joe Travers, Griff Peters, Rick Musallam and Bryan Beller. THAT tidy ensemble. I can’t even tell you how excited I am to play with these guys again, for actual people.

Gonna premiere a couple of tunes from the new solo album in the works, and I’ve worked out the set lists and have arranged for a nice variety of tunes from night to night for you, so if you decide to get tickets to all four sets, you will receive a sparkling variety. Actually hold on a sec and I’ll count them for you. One…two…three…(edit) well it looks like no less than THIRTY-THREE different tunes strewn over the four sets. That’s entertainment!

Here’s things to click which will take you to places where your tickets can be got:

July 17: thebakedpotato.com/events/mike-keneally-beer-for-dolphins-saturday-july-17-2021/

And don’t forget!

Important note for anyone coming to the BFD gigs July 16/17 – I’m not sure it says anything on the Baked Potato site about this, but in order to get in the venue you’ll need either proof of vaccination, or a negative COVID test within 72 hours of entry – please be aware. Thanks!
